The Shumber waterfall is magnificent in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad. It is a seasonal waterfall. The water level is high in the rainy season mostly in the monsoon. Apart from that, the waterfall gets dry. This place is not much popular as it is hidden in the Margalla hills. But, it is a must-visit place. The beauty of the Shumber waterfall has no match. Shumber Waterfall Location
The Shumber waterfall is at a driving distance of 10 minutes from Shahdara Valley Islamabad. Also, just like the Bruti Waterfall, the Shumber waterfall is crystal clear. On reaching the Shahdara Valley you have to take left near the Hidden Terrace Restaurant. There is a small bridge which turns towards the restaurant. You do not have to turn towards that bridge. Rather there is a bumpy road under construction going straight towards the waterfall. Moreover, you have to drive on this road for 5-10 minutes. There is no proper parking but you can park where the locals of that area recommend you to park the car. They charge 50 Pkr for the motorbikes, while 100 Pkr for the cars.

Hiking Trek Towards The Waterfall
The hiking trek starts near the parking. There is just one thing you have to follow the water stream. It will take you to the Shumber waterfall. The hike level is moderate. Further, it will take 30 minutes to reach the waterfall. The best time to visit is in the morning. As it will be easy for you to trek as well as enjoy the beauty of nature. To swim at Shumber waterfall in the summers is not less than a treat. The water is cold and crystal clear. The ponds are not very deep which makes it safe to swim there. But do not dive from heights as there are big stones that may cause you an injury. It is safe to have a look in the water pond so that if you want to dive there is no risk.

Is the water deep?
The big pond that is below the waterfall is not more than 3-4 feet in depth. There is a pond below which is a bit deep but not that much, it is always good to be on the safe side and play safe.
Is it safe to visit the Shumber Waterfall?
Absolutely yes, I have heard from a few people that the locals do not allow us to visit the waterfall. This is not really true. The local community is living in a small village near Shumber waterfall. Because there are multiple ways to reach the waterfall. The best and recommended path is to follow the water stream. This path is at a safe distance from the local settlements. The locals just want that people should respect their privacy and culture. Good manners are always appreciated.
Can we cook at the Shumber waterfall?
Yes, you can cook or take prepared meals with you. If you want to cook there it is recommended to carry a gas cylinder with you. It is not a good option to lit fire near the jungle. This causes pollution and disturbs natural beauty. I along with my friends prepared a meal over there. We had everything with us so it was really fun and enjoyable. It is to keep in mind that cleanliness is very important. Do not litter and throw garbage, I have seen a lot of people throwing the wastes in the water. Further, this will make this place dirty and will be life-risking for the wildlife too.
